Red Lake Wildland Firefighters battling wildfires across the Western U.S.

The Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians Wildland Fire Program, in partnership with the Bureau of Indian Affairs makes firefighting resources available for wildfire operations across the country each year. Many Red Lake firefighters are on or have been on details in Montana, Washington, South Dakota, Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado this year. Red Lake firefighters serve on hand crews, fire engines, and helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft support. The experience and knowledge they gain on these operations each summer is brought back to Red Lake. This keeps the Red Lake Wildland Firefighting crews sharp and ready for our busy spring and fall fire seasons.
